Matt Thomas, DVM

Veterinarian

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, where I spent much of my time outdoors, developing a deep appreciation for animals and the natural world. That connection, combined with a fascination for science and the constant challenge of learning, led me toward veterinary medicine. My path was solidified after a unique opportunity to work with wolves in California.

I earned my DVM degree from Washington State University in 2025 through the WIMU Regional Program, completing my first two years at Utah State University before finishing my final two years at WSU. Along the way, I became Fear Free certified, and earned certification in wildlife chemical immobilization, to help support my goal of providing safe, compassionate, and effective care in a wide range of situations.
Today, my clinical interests include small animal medicine, surgery, dentistry, wildlife, and emergency and critical care. I believe in providing individualized, evidence-based care that prioritizes both the physical and emotional well-being of every patient.

Although I’m new to Olympia and the Pacific Northwest, I was drawn here by its stunning scenery and abundant outdoor opportunities. When I’m not at the clinic, you can usually find me hiking, trail running, or backpacking with my wife and son. At home, we share life with our Mudi/mini Aussie mix and two cats.
